BUFFALO BILLIARDS AUSTIN

BUFFALO BILLIARDS AUSTIN

This one was massive and held close to 1,000 customers. Crazy times.
— Geoff Dawson

Our partners Robert Thompson and Leigh Jones headed to Austin after setting up Buffalo Billiards in Nashville. This location at the corner of 6th and Brazos in downtown Austin seemed like a n0-brainer, yet it was always difficult to make work. The shear size was imposing, and maintenance was expensive. We had some strong years, but the business never lived up to our projections as Austin expanded and nightlife moved away from us.

After several years, Mark Handwerger, Curt large and I bought out Robert and Leigh as they headed to Denver to open their new concept, B-52 Billiards. Our managers Jesse and Tina were hard-working and did their best to keep the business relevant in the rapidly growing Austin scene. Buffalo Billiards Austin was a tough horse to ride, but we had a solid run.

Curt later bought our shares and ran the business until the pandemic drove a stake into its heart. Buffalo Billiards Austin was done.
