ROCKETBAR

A hidden door in Chinatown DC leads to 8,000+ ft RocketBar.... launch pad for the CAPStronaut!
— Geoff Dawson

After licking our wounds from the Velocity Grill implosion around the corner, we found a basement site on 7th St. NW DC in the heart of the new Chinatown. With only a door for frontage, we created one of the most loved bars in downtown DC. Filled with rockets, games and vacuum-cleaner-turned-rocket-ship art pieces from Jimmy Descant, and designed by good friend Kay Christie, we launched and drifted into orbit almost immediately.

Shimmering and dark at the same time, RocketBar feels like a place you just discovered every time you descend into its arms. A robot hangs over the stairs to greet customers or to send them on their merry way.

RocketBar welcomes all sorts, even a few hundred Santas, despite their predictably bad behavior. What could possibly go wrong with a bar full of Santas?
