SMOKED & STACKED
SMOKED & STACKED
“Smoked & Stacked… I thought it was going to be a weed shop”
After helping us make Ripple one of the best restaurants in DC, and having almost won Top Chef season 13, Marjorie Meek Bradley joined Peter Bayne and me at Tin Shop to create Smoked & Stacked. Marjorie’s smoked pastrami was out of this world and her breakfast sandwich with a runny egg, pastrami and secret sauce on her homemade milk bun was incredible. As soon as we opened, lines went down the block.
Geoff McNabola, Edgar Martinez and Chris Bebell led the charge to give Smoked & Stacked an industrial feel. Billy Colbert created the logo, capturing the vibe we wanted and prompting more thane person to say “Smoked & Stacked… I thought it was going to be a weed shop.” Our location inside the DC Convention Center was facing 9th St NW, just across from Lost & Found.
Mayor Bowser was an early fan, as were folks across the city. But this location didn’t have enough density to support a grab-and-go sandwich shop, so after less than two years, we pulled the plug and began changing our business to Tall Boy.
